Planning Board adopts longer short-term rental definition for community review

Planning Board · Meeting of February 25, 2026

Egremont Planning Board adopts detailed short-term rental zoning definition. Chair Mary McGurn steered the board's 3–1 vote for the longer STR definition over a briefer alternative, with John Lanterman voting no. The board agreed to bring the definition and a proposed "major/minor" classification system--which could subject larger rentals to site plan review--to the community for feedback.

The board's FY2027 budget request was approved by the Select Board and Finance Committee without question. The Attorney General disallowed a citizen petition to delete the Medical Marijuana Overlay District, leaving it in force.
