EGREMONT — Planning Board and Municipal Housing Trust unite on short-term rental regulation strategy. Chair Mary McGurn announced the Planning Board will draft zoning language defining STRs and specifying permitted districts--requiring a two-thirds Town Meeting vote--while the Trust develops operational bylaws covering registration, fees, and standards under a simpler majority threshold. Board members Stephen Lyle and Donna Bersch-Gordon endorsed distinguishing STR types and establishing a town registry; Richard Stanley, Trust chair, urged alignment with best practices from other communities.

A reported cease-and-desist order in nearby Lanesborough for an STR lacking zoning definition spurred the urgency.
