Planning Board, Housing Trust align on short-term rental bylaw review steps

Planning Board · Meeting of March 5, 2026

Egremont Planning Board and Municipal Housing Trust jointly refined short-term rental regulation strategy. Planning Board Chair Mary McGurn outlined removal of site plan review from the zoning draft, replacing it with use standards on parking, circulation, access, and lighting. The boards identified multiple areas requiring Town Counsel review, including definition alignment, hard caps, ownership eligibility, and enforcement pathways.

Trust members Doug Mishkin and Judi Goodman expressed concern that adopting zoning without a regulatory general bylaw would leave insufficient guardrails. Tentative public informational sessions are set for April 8 and April 29, both at 5:30 PM, before any town meeting vote.
