EGREMONT — Select Board approves fiscal 2027 budgets including fire and highway increases. Chairwoman Lucinda Fenn-Vermeulen, Vice Chair Judi Goodman, and Member Mary Brazie unanimously approved 36 line-item allocations across departments, with Highway collective bargaining rising $337,619 and Fire Department expenses up $83,000. Fire Chief Joe Schneider secured approval for one new full-time firefighter position at up to $65,000 salary; the board deferred decision on a $105,000 patient-transport vehicle.
Two items--Public Transportation ($69,854) and Health/Dental insurance ($375,211)--were held pending further review, with the next budget meeting scheduled for March 10 to hear presentations from Police, Treasurer/Collector, Board of Health, and Water Department.
