EGREMONT — Select Board approves water department budget and debt items unanimously. The board finalized 14 fiscal 2027 budget line items totaling over $547,000 in debt, interest, and water system expenses, with water operating costs rising to $35,000 from $32,150. Chairwoman Lucinda Fenn-Vermeulen and the board heard pitches from Police Chief Jason LaForest for a fifth officer position, the Board of Health on replacing departing Director Juliette Haas, and the Conservation Commission on a new $4,000 stewardship budget line, with final decisions deferred pending additional information and presentations scheduled for March 17 and March 24.
